Once again Captain Dan McClarren took Marines from the National Museum of the Marine Corps out fishing pro bono in the Chesapeake Bay for trophy rockfish. The water was pretty rough, but three of the Marines caught the biggest fish of their lifetimes, and everyone left with bags of striper filets. These Marines are part of the detachment assigned to the Museum while they are at Marine Corps Base Quantico. Most have been deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan more than once. Sgt Brown said that this was the first time she had been on a vessel smaller than an aircraft carrier! All reported that they had a good time. Captain Dan said that he looks forward to treating the Marines each spring. It's a good feeling to take these young Americans out for a trip after trophy rock after all they've been through. |
