Opening weekend of trophy rockfish season on the Chesapeake Bay roared in like the proverbial lion. The northwest winds howled Saturday and Sunday, but that didn't keep the boats and the anglers at the dock. But it was the lady anglers on Sunday that won the prize for biggest fish. All our fish were over 30 inches, but take a look at this one! She will be in rockfish fillets for just awhile. And they're one great eating fish. While we were happy to come back in with a good catch both days, we left plenty of fish to go back to in the weeks ahead. With all that cold water off Virginia all winter, Captain Dan thinks there are some horses out there for the catching. And we don't want to miss a thing! |
